Haiku

by
Aaron Alonzo Amaya

Before taking this class, I really went through life without thinking much about the present moments and how they can pass by as quickly as they came. Now, reading different haiku that represent how time can pass by through your eyes in a blink of an eye, I see that I have to cherish every moment that I am going through because I will never know if it will end and or when it will end. That if I am to do something, I will do it 100 percent all the time. For example, if I am reading a book, I will be focused on that 100 percent for a certain time that I put myself on. Another would be if I am training in the pool for a swimming competition, then I will focus on that 100 percent while I am at the pool training for the competition.

late summer coolness
dew soaks into
holes in my shoes

stars gather
in the gristmill’s trough
water wheel creaking

laughing with friends
goodbye
in the next chapter

eyes like the calm ocean
seeingn a future with her
peace

roaring engine
father's wisdom
louder

smoke emerges
out into a summer night
all circling fire
