The Outskirts of My Imagination

by
Abby Heberling

This haiku collection contains a wide variety of topics. From memories, to important people in my life, and just purely stories that I made up in my head are all featured. Before taking Global Haiku Tradition, I never really used my imagination anymore. Being a science major, most of what I did was fact-based and experimentation. I got to explore my imagination and these haikus are my favorites that I came up with. The outskirts imply the edge of a town or a city. In this title, I thought outskirts was an important addition because it perfectly explains how I used my imagination through these.

sleeping family
the quiet house
before the chaos

old cemetery
people drive by unaware
his world is six feet under

sun in the sky
snow on the ground
hypocritical

she gets me
I get her
platonic soulmates

coffee shop
table for two
one mug on the table

summer breeze
bird perched on a clothesline
hanging memories

grandpa and I still awake
for New Year's fireworks
from the balcony

snowman in the yard
siblings pull off
little wet gloves
