Like an Avalanche

by
Andalyn Hodge

In this collection I explore the human experience. From growing up, to falling in love, to heart break, this collection truly is about life's ups and downs. Most importantly however, it's about how events and emotions come at you like an avalanche. (see what I did there?) My love for haiku came so naturally, and I think my favorite thing about the style of writing is just how human every single piece feels. I feel a connection to the author while reading, and the reader while writing. Haiku is made that way by design, it is a collaborative art form at its
core and that speaks to me on such a personal level I hope you love reading this haiku just as much as I loved writing it.

we rush up
the cold metal steps
finally, inside

snow day
laughter tumbles
like an avalanche

on the couch
I lean back
that 70's show

slush on my face
what a pretty smile
I'll keep it safe

hiking on the first date—
he looked taller
in his photos
