So, Random Haiku

by
Roxanne Rodriguez

These Haiku were bits of my life so far. I have enjoyed life in so many ways. From sadness to happiness and everything in between. These Haiku do not follow a specific story but follow many events that I have experienced and things that I have seen.

summer weather starts
flip flops
short shorts

This Haiku is one of my favorites because every year when there is a hint of warm weather this is what I tend to see around town. It usually is an ongoing joke between my fiancé and me. Though he is in HVAC, we welcome the season change because then we know how busy he will be. Roxanne Rodriguez, May 2022

as the music plays
he points to you
turnaround

This Haiku has me thinking about a wedding I went to with my fiancé years ago when we were just dating. He loves to dance at weddings, which is probably the only time he is not shy about it. So, after dinner was served and the music started, he would point to me like let's go! Roxanne Rodriguez, May 2022

oh no––
what is that
another grey hair

This Haiku reminds me of how time goes by. I am getting older, and the times of another grey hair have gone by. I have so many grey hairs that another would not be noticeable anymore. Roxanne Rodriguez, May 2022

she lies
for the last time
goodbye old friend

This Haiku is from a sad part of my life. My friend battled breast cancer for 4 years and lost the fight. Thinking of the day that we had to see her the last time in the casket was hard for us all. She was only 27 when she passed and left behind a little girl. Roxanne Rodriguez, May 2022

the star twinkles
at me
wink wink

When I wrote this Haiku, I was outside at night. Sometimes when I look out at the stars, I feel like some are shining a little brighter than others. That is why I feel like they are winking at me. Roxanne Rodriguez, May 2022

in the morning
I see dishes
in the sink

Rock On

looking for my seat
in front of the stage
starting soon

high hair
really tan
feels like early ‘90s

second act
much darker
see all the bugs

I float through space
with my hammer
breaking ice
