The Past Four Years

by
Heather Beeler

I am at a very reflective point in my life. The birth of my son triggered this time in my life and school has also played a huge role by asking me to reflect on everything I do. Many things have happened in the last four years that have made me look at life completely different and these life experiences is where I have found inspiration for my haiku. I have brought together some of my haiku that I believe to be my best work. As you will notice, some of my haiku are very specific and others are not. I chose not to use pictures so that one could interpret my haiku as they wish.

not enough fingers
grandma’s wedding ring
sits in my jewelry box

another movie
in your arms
perfect night

toes in water
tall grass above my head
cows moo

starry night
blanket in the grass
mosquitoes buzz

a page with scribbles
she jots a note
on my baby’s masterpiece
