Living Everyday

by
Daryann Birt

I learned about the art of writing haiku in my Global Haiku class taught by Professor Randy Brooks. This group of haiku was written by me from memories and feelings I have experienced. They are a mix of emotions. I can write more from everyday life and love instead of forcing haiku to be written.

music blaring
boots on
concert season

mirrored reflection
is the truth
really what you see?

21 roses
for 21 years . . .
love, Grandpa

first date
movie and dinner
beginning of forever?

backroad driving
windows down
hair flying

thunderstorm
first day
of Spring break

gunshot ringing
through the air
off and running

teaching my baby sister
how to drive
pray for     my car

toes touching the water
stillness
of the summer lake

blind date
meeting for the first time
my parents

whispers
in the dark . . .
sharing life dreams
