Quirky

I entitled this collectio n"Quirky" because, upon inspection, these haiku come from the most random experiences I've had this semseter. I've taken some of the most memorable moments and impossible situations and tried to capture how I felt at the moment it occurred.

Some of these moments I feel are humorous, some deeply poingnant and some just a little bit off-kilter. Quirky is the only word that comes to mind to describe this collection and to describe myself. So Quirky it shall be.

passing glance
in the mirror
reminds me of my role

red-headed girl
under a naked tree
without a jacket

toppling skyscrapers
invade my dream
I fall with them

in the guitar case
mother's soul
waits to be restrung

mother's on the phone
guilt trip
with her silence

college friends
sheltered in the lobby
this time for warmth

roof-top chatter
hoping to catch
the sun set

he tells the truth
I drop
my mask

brand new faces
turn my head
while walking away
