Haiku

high school reunion
ex-boyfriend
pot belly

hot summer evening
our clothes
on the bank

gentle summer rain
from a polka dot umbrella
child’s laughter

tropical drinks
dirty dancing
two buck bar

25th anniversary
ocean breeze
run in our glasses

beautiful sunny day
hair in ponytails
underdog daddy

clear-blue skies
first-time kayaking
on Sugar Creek

dear rainy night
oh my soul
cries for you

my growing belly
you flutter inside
until we meet

my cup overflows
sweet red wine
pour me one more

through the dark valley
You see me
I’m not alone

grapes are ripe
house is empty
grams gone

summer evening walks
everybody waves
in a small town

sleet and rain
your hand in mine
all the time
