Now

Haiku is about being in the moment, engaging the senses, and recording the experience.  My best Haiku come from the vivid memories I hold in my mind.  I practice present moment awareness and spend a great deal of time in nature.  I love the way my brain stores my sensory experiences so vividly, and it’s as if I can close my eyes and step into my haiku. I included these haiku in this collection because these haiku came to me in such a way that I was able to reflect upon, appreciate, and in some cases, heal from some of my life’s experiences.  Having an intense neurological makeup has been a source of great pain, but also a source of great appreciation for experiencing the physical world.  Life is balance, and writing haiku is yet another tool I can use to calm, ground, and center myself.  I have learned to embrace the now, and it continues to be the place in which I am most happy.  After all, the present moment is all that exists.

The title of my haiku collection issimply Now, because “now” expresses my inspiration, realizations, and continued growth along life’s journey.  Now is all I have, and I intend to let myself embrace it fully.
