Journey of Truth

by
Chase Nelson

Journey of Truth shares a group of haiku that express the the path of finding who I am and what I have encountered through my 22 years of life. The opening section begins with hopeful and comforting haiku that express the pros of coming out and being who you are. In the second section, you will notice a change in energy with the hardships and the shitty people I have encountered while on this journey of MY truth.

Love is:
happy and gay
suagary and sweet

drunk in love
maybe with too much
alcohol

somewhere out there
someone understands
the true you

clashing with energies
our hearts pouring out
we dance

vicious beer breath
spitting out
all that insecurity and regret

Sleeping uncomforably
kmowing my bully will be ready
at 7:30am

who are you
to tell me
who I can love?

the emotional draught
my father gives me . . .
knocked right out of my life

Wher are thou?
overthinking it
too much

a world full of gossip
trees whisperingg—
on and on

we’re using a Macbook
as a mirror
—cuz’ we’re rich!

deeply rooted to the earth
I take a deep inhale;
I spot

from the top
(inhale)
a 5! 6! 7! 8!

he said he doesn’t want
his son to learn
to play dress up
