Haiku Writing Roundtable

Course Description

EN170 Haiku Writing Roundtable was a student centered one-credit workshop modeled after writers' groups. The primary goal of this course was to read, write and publish haiku. As a pass/fail course, the secondary goal was to have fun sharing the creative process in a small workshop atmosphere. We celebrated the diversity of voices and variety of experiences evident in the student works.

For the Fall 2003 semester, students gained an aesthetic understanding of Zen poetics underlying the haiku tradition and wrote original haiku from memory, imagination, direct observation, and meditation.
